Weekend Makeup Idea: Big, Flirty Lashes

    by The Fashion Bomb Staff

Add a touch of flirt to your look this weekend by paying special attention to your lashes whether it’s through mascara or by plopping on some strip or individual lashes. The look is very soft and doe-like. Not very exaggerated and Janice from the Muppets-like.

    Here’s how you get it:

    Mascara
This is the quickest and most convenient way to give your lashes a boost. For best results, start with curling your lashes and then applying a lash primer like MAC Prep & Prime Lash. This will coat and condition the lashes and give your mascara a foundation. Apply your mascara in a quick back and forth (or zig-zag) manner starting from the root and ending at the tips. Add another coat (or two) while the first coat is still wet. If the mascara is even just a bit dry, adding extra layers can cause the mascara to clump. For a bright-eyed doe-like look, be sure to add mascara to your bottom lashes. Don’t worry if you smudge the mascara under your eyes—you can use a wet Q-tip to clean up your mistakes.

    Mascaras to try:

    Fake Lashes

Falsies only look hard to apply. With a little bit of glue and steady fingers, you can have beautiful lashes. First apply mascara to your lashes (as described above). Take your lashes out of their box and wrap them around your middle finger–this helps to give the band of the lash a bit of a curve similar to your eyelid. You may need to measure the lashes to make sure they aren’t too long for you and cut them as needed. Apply a thin layer of lash glue (I love Duo Lash Adhesive in Dark for dark lashes, Duo Lash Adhesive in White for blonde and lighter colored lashes). Allow the glue a few seconds to get tacky, but not dry. If your hands are a little shaky, use a pair of tweezers to grip the end of the lashes. You want to make sure the band of the lashes (where you applied the glue) fits in the area where your own lashes meet your eyelid. Smooth the lash down with the flat end of your tweezers and allow the lashes a few minutes to dry. Take an eyelash curler (like Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler) and gently press down where your fake lashes meet your real lashes and slowly work your way up. This helps to blend the lashes together.

You can apply fake lashes before or after you apply your eye makeup depending on what’s easier for you. Just make sure you wear makeup when wearing lashes as you tend to channel Mr. Snuffleupagus without it.

For individual lashes, get a lash adhesive like Ardell LashTite Eyelash Adhesive. Then:
    1. Clean your own lashes with non-oily make-up remover or soap and water.
    2. Place a drop of adhesive on a piece of foil. Dip the end of the lash in adhesive, then place onto your own lashes, as close to the area where your eyelid meets your lashes. Press gently for a few seconds.
    3. Continue same method for each lash used.

    More Ardell…

Hope you all have a beautiful weekend. And if you have some cool plans, feel free to share them :)
    ~Danielle

Peter Thomas Roth’s Lashes To Die For The Mascara is simply amazing. I have used nearly ever mascara you can think of, from those found at drugstores, to Sephora, to Neiman’s, & nothing compares to Peter Thomas Roth’s. With treatment added, it provides unbelievable length, separation & fullness. Clearly, I highly suggest it!

I love the lashes! I’m one of those people who weren’t lucky enough to be born with long sexy lashes. :( Mascara doesn’t work for me so far, so I might try wearing fake lashes. Although I’m a little scared of it. Happy weekend!

I’ve worn fake lashes only one time and it was so irritating……:/ I guess I wasn’t used to it because it bothered me so much to have something hitting me everytime I blinked…lol I have decent lashes with mascara so I’m going to skip this weekend idea. It looks great on thought

I love false lashes on other people but they’re just a bit too much for me, I hate looking too done up. But I absolutely love Maybelline’s Falsies. My lashes are pretty sparse, but this mascara lengthens and thickens them without looking all goopy. I’ve tried the expensive DiorShow, but Maybelline is by far my fave…and it’s cheap!

@LIving Fly YES! That is one of the BEST mascaras that has came out in a while. I just purchased mine a few days ago after seeing the commercial and I must say, that application brush is excellent and makes applying mascara to my sparse lashes LESS messy.

But I do LOVE strips as well. I always get compliments on my big eyes being beautiful and whenever I wear false lashes, IT’S LIKE BAMBIE! Just gorgeous. Just a little hard for me to apply at times thats all.

For quick fix, mascara can do all the trick, and you honestly rely with
Covergirl Volume extract in Very Black.
But if you really love your eyes, gently remove eye make-up before cleaning your face, and have enough sleep for a real natural glow. Cheers!

@ jacquelyn Peter Thomas Roth is actually my fiance. We’re gonna get married one day—he just doesn’t know it yet…lol. I LOVE his products. Right now I’m using the Unwrinkle Pads at night and his Gylcolic Acid cleanser is the bomb as well. I haven’t tried Lashes to Die for yet but you’ve got me intrigued now. Plus Sephora’s Friends and Family sale is coming this week—I’m definitely gonna check it out.

I’m so glad to see this post and that Falsies are on here…these do work…I tried the actual fake lashes for the first time at a friends wedding and my husband has not stopped talking about them…i tore them off in my sleep and will not be doin again…but have used the Falshies mascara and it is the truth…Hubby was like…you look like you are at the wedding again.

@ living fly…responded before I read the post…yay…a vote for Falsie…cheap is important…when you remember that you are suppose to replace this stuff every six months or less and you don’t use everyday it just doesn’t make sense to pay too much. I’ve use the Chanel immitable or whatever in the past…
