Hey Guys!
So since I’ve been back, I’ve been pampering myself a bit, ya know, getting fancy:)
In preparation for New York Fashion Week, I decided to treat myself to a Minx Mani/Pedi (if you don’t know what it is, check out this vintage post).
I was intrigued by the design options and the fact that it looks fresh for up to two weeks. But after a run in with a salon that didn’t have enough foils in stock, then paying close to $150 (!!!) at another salon, I knew there had to be another way to get the look without running all around town or draining my bank account.
Introducing Nail Rock (www.nailrock.com):

Created by artist Zoe Pocock, the fun nail foils are designed for budget fashionistas who want the look of Minx for less. The process is the same as Minx. You take an adhesive design, place it on your nail, then file it down. After letting the design set for one minute under a hair dryer, you’re done!

They’ll be available soon at Asos and Topshop. Find more information at www.nailrock.com and on Nail Rock’s Facebook Page.
Until I can try Nail Rock out for myself, I’ll have to be happy with my Minx:

What do you think?

That place def overcharged you ! In Maryland its about 80$ for manipedi still expensive so I can’t wait to see how the nailrock works

I was really sad about paying that much. But everywhere I called quoted me from $108-$125. That place was $130 ($65 for the mani, $65 for the pedi) and I tipped $20 because I felt it was the right thing to do. Suuucks. I wanted to spend $100 tops, but I was driving around town for hours and just wanted to get it over with, no matter the price.

Your nails look great. I can’t wait to try nail rock.

I’ve been wanting to try it for over a year now. There was a 3 week waiting list and a whole lot more than what I wanted to pay when I wanted to get it for my b-day last year. This year I got my hands on some nail foils from Sephora, I haven’t tried them yet, but they’re only $15 bucks.

My bestie did a beauty post on my blog about her experience with the Sephora by Opi nail prints. Hers turned out amazing and a fraction of the cost of Minx! She tried the tiger print >> http://lovebrownsugar.blogspot.com/2010/08/best-of-beauty-jasmines-birthday-treats.html
There’s also a company called Incoco that makes nail adhesives and they’re super cheap, like $8/pack

In Dallas, a REGULAR mani/ pedi can cost you $80! It’s so rare here, that a Minx mani alone can cost $70 or $80…

Totally try the ones at Sephora!! I purchased a set a few weeks ago and my friend helped me put them on. They looked fab and it only cost me $15!!

Yea, I like how they came out too! I wonder what Tiny’s nail salon has to offer? I passed by visiting some family the other day…it’s all the way out in Stockbridge! For some reason, I figured it would have been in Buckhead or Decatur but I guess she wanted it closer to home.
WTH! I didn’t know it cost that much to get your nails done in other cities with or without the minx. I am super spoiled!

Oh Claire…welcome home…you treated yourself as you should and they look fab. No worries!

@Hotlanta I agree with you I didn’t realize it was so much in other cities for a mani/pedi… I live in L.A and depending where you go for a mani/pedi they range from $15 ( hood salons that can do all the designs)-$65 (more upscale salon)
But the Minx can get expensive the place I go to in W.Hollywood is $55 for a mani $85 for a pedi…
I seen the one’s in Sephora in an mag I’m going to try them & I really like the one’s in this post…
