My Twitter timeline was all abuzz last night about photos recently seen of Jill Scott‘s new seemingly relaxed do. The songstress was spotted at her high school reunion where the ‘do debuted. Comments ranged from “the cut is so cute” to “I thought I’d never see the day when Jill would relax her hair”
But let’s hear it from you, Bombshells—what do you think of Jill’s new hair?
Pic spotted at The Curl World.

She is so dumb. She is really dumb.
Atleast get a cute cut, that shit looks awful. Excuse my french.
August 18, 2010 1:56 am
@Rissa E did you get that from the Antoine Dodson news clip? lol and if you did I’m mad that I can recognize it like that! Either way I love me some Jill Scott so Im going to assume that it looks better in person. The hair world got all abuzz bc Ms. Scott got a relaxer. That’s funny lol
August 18, 2010 6:11 am
It may not be a relaxer. I have been natural for two years now and I can usually blow dry my hair straight or use a hair straightner (heat) and I get the same effect that she has.
August 18, 2010 6:51 am
I think the cut suits her, it probably does look better in person though.
@ sojazzy1 – The Antoine Dodson clip was so funny. I live London and that made me and all my friends laugh.

that…neh
August 18, 2010 9:55 am
What is that on her head? She better had not!!!!!
August 18, 2010 10:32 am
I like the cut. I’m sure it looks better in person. It may not be a relaxer–but maybe it is. People jump the gun too much, same scenario with Janet Jackson when she cut people assumed she went natural–it looked relaxed to me. I dig short cuts so I’m a fan regardless. I’m sure Jilly will put some curls in it or spike it more and make it funky.
August 18, 2010 10:51 am
Relax folks. It could be pressed out. And even if it is a relaxer she only has 3 inches of hair, she can grow it back out!
August 18, 2010 11:50 am
I like it. What’s wrong with her getting a relaxer?
August 18, 2010 11:53 am
[...] my morning blog roll both the Fashion Bomb Daily and Bitchie Life posted that singer Jill Scott has a relaxer! Why is this news? It’s just [...]
August 18, 2010 12:26 pm
Relaxed or blown out…me no likey…uh uhn, no way
August 18, 2010 12:59 pm
I think it cute, yall trippin – HARD.
August 18, 2010 1:04 pm
nothings wrong with it…she wanted a change….we women do that from time to time :)
August 18, 2010 1:08 pm
Nah!!
August 18, 2010 1:10 pm
I would have liked a different cut, but if she likes it then leave her alone! I love my natural hair, but it’s a damn hassle, so if anyone wants to have more manageable hair, then they should be able to do that. This ain’t the 1850s
August 18, 2010 1:14 pm
i dont think short hair is a great idea if your neck/chest area arent your good points.
im sorry jill but 3 necks aint cool, not even in 2010
August 18, 2010 1:15 pm
Relaxed or blown out I think it’s cute. It suits her face. I see some of ya’ll are only her fans if she has natural hair, smh.
August 18, 2010 1:20 pm
Oh Wow…miss Jill can do what she wants…you know cuz it’s her hair and we’ll need her to confirm that it’s relaxed and not blown out…looks blown out to me…miss thang has a new baby, she’s in love and loving her life and self…she’ll change her hair again…imeanreally.
August 18, 2010 1:30 pm
This doesn’t suit her face. The cut is too blunt. Maybe if she softened the edges a bit.
August 18, 2010 1:35 pm
You guys are bugging me out.You acting like she went and got a Beyonce blond weave all down her back or like she sold her soul just because she got a new hairstyle.Get a grip people. It’s only HER hair; she hasn’t changed her music style or her what she stands for. Don’t condemn her for evolving, embrace her.
August 18, 2010 1:41 pm
I don’t care either way cuz she is STILL the bizness. As long as Her performances and songs are up to par I don’t have a problem. HOWEVER, and that is a big however, lol, Ms.Scott is not working the cut
August 18, 2010 2:08 pm
So she got a perm, big deal. Us Black women do that from time to time. I just don’t think this cut (based on this pic) does her any justice. *shrug*
August 18, 2010 2:29 pm
It’s her hair, so she can do whatever she wants. Who cares?
August 18, 2010 2:46 pm
i think she just blew it out, but either way, the hairstyle doesn’t compliment her.
August 18, 2010 2:54 pm
I wore a relaxer for at least 10 years of my life. I have been natural for 3+ years. ITS HAIR DAMMIT. If you’re natural it doesn’t make you some pro black , i hate the man, black panther. It’s the choice of a texture at the end of the day. And when did Jill Scott become the spokes person for natural hair? JILL- ROCK ONNNN!
August 18, 2010 6:05 pm
I love it! I think she looks FAB!!!
August 18, 2010 6:14 pm
I was at the reunion and saw Jill. She looked great and her hair was on point! Whether she’s relaxed or not doesn’t matter.
August 18, 2010 6:25 pm
I dont know Jilly. I’m kind of disappointed. Not liking the cut, if you going to switch over to the creamy crack atleast make it worth it. That style is a no go. Sorry. The natural curls were so beautiful. Why????
August 18, 2010 7:05 pm
It’s not becoming at all. Jill Scott is gorgeous. The cut emphasizes her round face and double chin. I think she should stick to a more volumizing curly do.
August 18, 2010 10:42 pm
I don’t believe I am in a position to debate what someone else does to their body, but I’d like to see the style not when heat & humidity hasn’t taken over.
August 18, 2010 11:02 pm
Doesn’t look relaxed to me….looks cut and flatironed. Naturals can wear straight hair too folks!
August 19, 2010 8:41 am
I don’t like it. I love Jill but this cut isn’t doing anything for me. I understand the need to change ur style but this isn’t becoming. Also, I think ppl are upset about the possible perm b/c Jill is known for her natural hair, so if she permed it then natural chicks will have one less famous person who is natural.
August 19, 2010 8:45 am
Oh and we really should stop portraying the myth that relaxed hair is more manageable. It’s easier to comb yes, but when I had a relaxer, I stayed in the hair salon getting my hair styled & curled. Now that I’m natural, my hair is harder to comb through but it takes just as much maintenance as relaxed hair. Let’s face it, black hair is political & harder to keep up no matter what your texture.
August 19, 2010 9:09 am
Hmm…it is not even a hairstyle, she better had not! She had so beautiful hair…It is sad!

Don’t mess with my Ms. Jill Scott. If she wants to go bald, I’ve got her back.
