Trailblazing supermodels Naomi Campbell, Liya Kebede, and Iman cover Essence’s 40th Anniversary Issue:
The collector’s edition will do double duty as the magazine’s weighty September Fall Fashion issue, and will feature the first official spreads by Essence’s controversial fashion director, Elliana Placas.
Though it’s unknown if Elliana styled the cover, the fashion pages will undoubtedly receive lots of attention. Another thing to look forward to: an open letter by Michelle Obama to black women.

I’m not loving the cover, Iman is the only one doing it for me. However, I love Essence and can’t wait to see what’s inside.

Three of my fav BLACK models of all time (yeah Leah is black haters). I am sooo going to frame this cover, lol. Iman works upstairs from me so I get to see her and gossip with her assistant all the time, lol jealous bombers….? ;-)

@sunkissed- the afrikaners from south africa would describe themseleves as africans from africa, but they would never describe themselves as black, so i don’t know about that assertion.
anyway i totally love this cover, three of my favorite black models, esp. liya kebede.

I’m cool with Liya and Iman on this cover. Naomi on the other hand has a digusting personality and she’s a horrible person despite her fierceness and I just can’t see past this to her beauty. Her testimony at the war trial of Charles Taylor was the coup de grace for me.
But hooray for Liya and Iman. They are both beautiful on the inside and out…
