Performer, dancer, and fashion icon Lena Horne passed away yesterday at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center at the age of 92:
According to this article in the New York Times, Horne was the first black performer to be signed to a long-term contract by a major Hollywood studio and to achieve international fame as a singer.
In addition to her obvious talent, she was also known for her elegance and style. May she rest in peace.
