Hot! or Hmm…: The 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards!

    by Claire

    Hey Guys!

Vuitton here with a fashion rundown of the Grammy Awards!

Last night, the stars came out in droves for the annual event. I was eager to watch, but had a prior commitment, so missed the entire thing:( However, according to Facebook and Twitter updates thereafter, it seems I may not have missed much. Though Alicia Keys and Kanye West were noticeably absent, a good number of Fashion Bomb stars came out to show and prove. Let’s take a look at who sizzled, and who didn’t shine so brightly:

    First up, Mary J. Blige:

The singer certainly looked pretty in pink and her form-fitting cut-out dress hugged her fabulous curves.  I especially loved the pop of color, which reminded us that last night was definitely for high energy fun.  Hot!

Melanie Fiona also dazzled on the red carpet…

The gorgeous songbird wore a black assymetrical gown to the festivities.  I do think it looked more Academy Awards than GRAMMY’s, but it was a gorgeous dress nonetheless.  And that bracelet of hers added some needed edge to her ensemble.  Hot!

Singer Ashanti also came out of hiding for last night’s show…

The princess of R&B wore a champagne colored Tony Ward gown with a beaded bodice and a train that seemed to go on for miles. I can’t say I’m a fan of this dress.  Though her hair, makeup, and shoes were en pointe, as per usual when it comes to Ashanti, the beading and the train made the dress look rather “promesque”.  Hmm…

Miss Jennifer Hudson also came through…

Donning a curve-hugging Victoria Beckham dress, the sultry songstress managed to balance sexy and conservative.  What made the dress even hotter was her svelte post baby body.  Hot!

    Keri Hilson also pleasantly surprised…

This is one for the books, ladies and gentlemen.  Keri, sporting a strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown with a crystal waistband, showed and proved!  I absolutely love the color against her skin, and bonus points for her hair not overpowering the look.  Major upgrade from the Keri we usually see (might be thanks to her stylist for the night, Rihanna and Ciara’s top choice Mariel Haenn). At any rate,  Hot!

Melanie Thornton sans Nicole and them The Pussycat Dolls, glistened in this ombre sequined number…

She’s a gorgeous girl and the color is gorgeous on her skin, but Melanie is always a little hit or miss for me.  I feel like she didn’t own the dress and forgot something to complete the look.  Hmm…

And of course Beyonce had to stunt on the carpet…

Wearing a Stéphane Rolland gown with ribbed patterned details, this dress hugged Mrs. Carter in all the right places.  The dress itself is beyond, but the huge earrings are trying to get their own shine and take away from the dress.  Hmm…

Rihanna graced the carpet…all white everything.

This Elie Saab Couture feathered gown had to have been made with Rihanna in mind, especially with the strong shoulders.  While we could’ve gotten more neck, the dress is beautiful and RiRi pulled it off.  Hot!

And of course, the GRAMMY’s would not be without the incomparable Lady Gaga…

Who else can have their own orbit and star?  She obviously went for a planetary theme in this Armani Privé Swarovski crystal encrusted frock.  Some of you may hate me, but I am totally behind the dress.  Only, and I repeat, ONLY Lady Gaga can rock something like this.  She definitely brought the “wow” factor that everyone hopes for at the GRAMMY’s and didn’t disappoint.  Hot!  But I definitely cannot get behind that wig.  I guess the planet needed its sun.

The fellas stunted on the red carpet as well.  I guess they couldn’t sit by and watch all the ladies take all the limelight.

Trey Songz always finds a suit made perfectly for him.

I love the all black theme and the polka-dot bowtie added some flair to the outfit.  Hot!

    Of course Ne-Yo was there…

Hardly ever a miss, Ne-Yo looked dapper last night for the ceremony.  I’m not a fan of white ties, but I’m definitely not mad at how he pulled it together, especially with the white shoes.  2 thumbs up!

I guess the shock levels didn’t stop at Lady Gaga…

Yes, T-Pain looks…tamed.  I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw him.  He went for a very casual, laid-back look last night, but it definitely worked.  We can’t have it all in just one shot, but I’m glad he put the crazy hat, Big A$$ Chain, and 18 watches aside.  Way to go, T-Pain!

Kid Cudi also came to show he couldn’t be upstaged…

A favorite new rapper to almost everyone, Kid Cudi ditched the formal black suit and turned to gray instead.  Very well tailored, and I love how he put his own spin on the outfit with his ring.  Dapper!

Musiq Soulchild also donned a suit for the red carpet…

A suit that shouldn’t have seen the light of day.  If his goal was to grab attention, he succeeded.  We definitely would’ve liked to see a more polished and subtle look with a bit of Musiq’s quirkiness.   But a purple suit?  Hmm…  I guess he didn’t get the memo that Barney on Broadway auditions haven’t started.

John Legend came through last night as well…

Wearing gray as well, John Legend looked dapper.  Nothing to scream about, but he got done what needed to be done.  Maybe a funky pocket-piece could’ve saved it, but he’s more on the lukewarm side to me.

And rounding out the gentlemen of the evening…Common:

Gray seemed to be last night’s theme as Common, too, donned a gray suit.  But what brought it home was the fact that his was plaid–and he added some color with his scarf and pocket-piece without looking too busy.  He definitely pulled it together and receives my stamp of approval.

So there you have it.  The complete rundown of the fashion at the 52nd GRAMMY Awards.  Who was hot and who wasn’t in your eyes?

Great content! But how can you do a fashion recap of the GRAMMYs. w/o addressing Usher’s outfit on the red carpet? I think he and Common were the best dressed males of the night.

Loves MJB, Rihanna, and Keri’s dresses. Loves Beyonce’s earrings, but that dress was a bit too much. Jennifer Hudson looks great! She usually doesn’t do it for me, but mama looks hot. Trey Songz always looks hot, and Kid Cudi is looking mighty sexy in that suit, hey daddy. And WTF is up with Musiq? He looks like a broke down Que Dog with that purple suit and those gold shoes!

I agree with Deb…no lurv for my babe Usher? Ok…moving on. Everybody literally SHINED in their own way. But I just turned a cheek to those who were ridiculous (like GaGa). One question: Bey…how? why? and who suggested that you upstage such a beautiful gown with those 1994 doorknockers?…eh.

Rihanna wore me OUT in that dress! She looked amazing! And, can we just take a minute to say, Heeeeey Kid Cudi! He’s extremely sexy and dapper in this look. Gaga looks amazing, but the wig throws the look off.

Beyonce, Rihanna, Gaga, T-Pain , I swear they can all do whatever they want and get away with it! They all had their own unique thing going on, which is definitely credible. I loved Jennifer Hudson, Keri Hilson, Trey Songz and Kid Cudi. Also, props to the lady in the background of John Legend’s picture! She is OWNING that dress.

WHY are her eyebrows so dark? and her hair so blonde orange?
