The New York Observer recently caught up with Damon Dash at DD172, an open space at 172 Duane Street where Dash hopes to spawn a new creative movement:

After his divorce from designer Rachel Roy in 2009, his very public falling out with Jay-Z in 2005, and myriad publicized financial troubles, it seems Mr. Dash is seeking to reinvent himself as “pretentious hippie,” or a modern day Andy Warhol type character who has a toe dipped into the worlds of art, music, publishing, and web design. In the article he says, “This is what I should be doing. … Regardless of how I got here, I’m exactly where I want to be.” Interesting.

Dang! Why do we always have to be a black version of someone else? Most of any type of creative outlets we’ve created them and they just took the credits for doing it. Maybe he has actually found something that works for him. We all will fall down some time in our lives and you either stay down or get back up and try again! Kudos to Mr. Dash!
