Artists Ciara and Lil Mama were at Rap-Up Magazine’s 4th Anniversary & Summer Issue Release Party this past Friday sporting what seems to be the new beauty must:
…two toned hairstyles. While most may opt for highlights or subtle light strands, Ciara and Lil Mama go for bold with blocks of platinum and golden brown placed side by side with raven black.
Keri Hilson debuted a similar color block style on the BET red carpet this weekend:
And Monica has been known to partake in edgy cuts with black and red….
But the style can easily tread the line between dynamic and dreadful…

I have 2 toned hair had it for years. It’s honey blonde at the top and my natural at the bottom

i think it looks great if 1) you put the darker color on the bottom and 2) the tones arent to far way from one another. I often get 30 on top and 4 on bottom and have the hair lond and curly and its fine.

I agree, two-toned hair screams hood. The only way you can class it up is if you get a classic style like Keri’s above. If not you look tacky!!!

I rocked auburn on top and my natural dark brown on the bottom for nearly a year… but that was about 3 years ago.I’m kind of over the two-tone look. It works for some people, though. Fantasia is not one of them.

i think it works if u can pull it off…one solid color tends to be very blah! and if the color is strategically placed (i.e. a professional stylist) it usually comes out very stylish and even classy according to what the style is.

Keri and Monica’s hair is cute. I also like two-tone if it is lighter on the top and darker on the bottom. I’ve always worn my hair one color and am thinking of dyeing my hair lighter on top for a different look. I don’t think it is hood as long as you do it right.

I have done two tone hair styles before and it could become hood looking if it is not done right…I am definitely not a fan of Lil’ Mama’s style, hair, umm pretty much nothing lol…SHE NEEDS TO FIRE HER STYLIST!!!

MONICA LOOKS VERY SEXY AND EDGY. COLOR IN A HAIR..JUST LIKE MAKE UP IS USED TO ENHANCE BEAUTY AND TEXTURE. BEING “HOOD” IS A STATE OF MIND NOT YOUR HAIR COLOR :-)
